Benita Grace Joy. Creative soul. Writer. Dreamer. Agitator. Disrupter. Freethinker. Feminist. Firebrand. Live authentically. Love simplicity. Appreciate wisdom. Tickle my intellect and we’ll be friends forever. I’ve seen my share of hard times. You live, learn, and grow through it. Anchored in unfailing Love. Life is beautiful.
Professionally, I’m Benita G. Joy, MAMFT Candidate, BA, SSW, CCP.
I am a Forensic Mental Health Professional in a highly specialized niche where mental health and justice intersect. My clients are individuals who have been criminally charged making their way through the legal system. My supervisor is a brilliant GP Psychotherapist and I’ve learned so much from her. We work primarily with male sex offenders at a private psycho-legal clinic in downtown Toronto. We run group programs and individual therapy. I have loved working in this capacity for the past six years. I started six month Creative Sabbath in December 2015 and escaped to Mumbai, India, the City of Dreams. But I’m headed back to work May 2016. And I’m super stoked to be functioning in a professional capacity once again. Check out my work website here.
I am a student working on completing a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy. This is through a fully (COAMFT) accredited online program at Northcentral University.
I also have a diploma is Social Service Work and I am a Certified Coach Practitioner (a.k.a. life coach).
My advice for you today is this: Go live the life you are curious about.
Grace and peace, dearly beloveds.
